The first version of the GIMP was written by Peter Mattis and Spencer
Kimball.
Image editing:- it is a process that includes various kinds of tasks such as selecting, creating or
removing layers, size alteration, cropping an image, removal of unwanted
elements, changing colour..etc are
performed by image editing software.

In another word, we can say that it is the process of
altering the looks of the original images.
Photo retouching:- An analog image editing process is known as photo retouching. it was
done with the help of tools like brush, paint, oil....etc.
Image:- Image is the basic object or
entities. It corresponds to a file, such as a TIFT, jpg, jpeg, gimp, gif
file.

In other words, we can say that An image is an artifact that
depicts visual perception, such as a photograph or other two-dimensional
picture.
Layers:- The thickness of the sheet or any the surface is known as layers.
